Job Openings Medical Collections Specialist

About the job Medical Collections Specialist

Arkansas Talent Group is seeking a Medical Collections Specialist for a temp-to-hire opportunity with an established healthcare administration company in Little Rock, Arkansas. This full-time, in-person position offers the opportunity to learn healthcare administration skills, contribute to a collaborative team, and be considered for permanent employment following the temporary assignment.

Unlike traditional debt collection, this position does not involve calling patients to request payment. Instead, you will work with insurance companies, claims adjusters, and legal offices to verify coverage, follow up on claims, and help resolve outstanding medical balances.

Key Responsibilities

  • Make outbound calls to insurance companies, claims adjusters, and legal offices to obtain information and move claims toward resolution.
  • Verify insurance coverage, policy details, and claim information.
  • Follow up on personal injury claims and outstanding medical balances.
  • Track claim progress, settlement updates, and anticipated payment timelines.
  • Research and resolve insurance verification and billing issues.
  • Maintain accurate account records and document conversations, updates, and next steps.
  • Organize daily follow-ups to keep accounts moving and ensure action items are addressed.
  • Collaborate with team members to resolve claims and meet productivity expectations.

Qualifications

  • Clear, professional communication skills and a strong phone presence.
  • Comfort making outbound calls and speaking with different contacts throughout the day.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and consistent follow-through.
  • Basic computer proficiency and accurate data entry skills.
  • A dependable, motivated approach and a willingness to learn.
  • Ability to research issues, solve problems, and manage multiple follow-ups.

Experience in medical billing, collections, insurance verification, claims processing, accounts receivable, customer service, or a healthcare or legal office is helpful but not required. Bilingual English and Spanish skills are also a plus.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

  • Temp-to-hire structure with the opportunity to be considered for a permanent role.
  • Predictable weekday schedule with no weekend hours.
  • Full-time hours in a professional, team-oriented office.
  • Training available for candidates with transferable skills.
  • Hands-on experience in medical billing, insurance verification, and claims follow-up.
  • Opportunity to build healthcare administration skills beyond a traditional customer service role.
