Arkansas Talent Group is seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist for an established, growing community bank in Little Rock, Arkansas. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented accounting professional to join a stable financial institution that continues to expand its footprint, services, and internal operations.

The Accounts Payable Specialist will play a key role in ensuring the timely, accurate, and compliant processing of invoices, expense reimbursements, vendor payments, and related accounting transactions. The ideal candidate brings a strong sense of ownership, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven environment. This individual will collaborate closely with accounting leadership, internal departments, and external vendors while helping maintain accurate records and a positive vendor experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Process a high volume of vendor invoices accurately and efficiently, including proper coding, approvals, supporting documentation, and timely entry into the accounting system.
  • Review invoices, purchase orders, receipts, and other documentation to ensure accuracy, appropriate authorization, and compliance with company policies.
  • Prepare and process weekly or scheduled check runs, ACH payments, wire requests, and other vendor-payment activity.
  • Reconcile vendor statements, research discrepancies, and resolve invoice, payment, credit, and account-balance issues in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate vendor records, including payment terms, tax documentation, remittance information, and banking details.
  • Respond professionally and promptly to vendor inquiries regarding invoice status, payment timing, and account activity.
  • Assist with employee expense reimbursements, corporate card activity, and other payable-related transactions.
  • Support month-end close by preparing accounts payable reports, accrual information, reconciliations, and documentation as needed.
  • Assist with annual 1099 preparation and other reporting requirements.
  • Maintain organized electronic and physical accounts payable records in accordance with internal retention standards, audit requirements, and banking regulations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounts payable workflows, strengthen internal controls, and enhance payment-processing efficiency.
  • Partner with accounting and operational teams to support financial accuracy, compliance, and strong internal service.
  • Complete required compliance, security, and professional-development training.
  • Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
  • Two or more years of accounts payable, accounting support, bookkeeping, or financial operations experience preferred.
  • Experience in banking, financial services, or a highly regulated environment is a plus.
  • Proficiency with accounting software, ERP systems, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • High degree of integrity and sound judgment when handling sensitive financial and vendor information.
