The Staff Accountant will play an important role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial records. This individual will support the general ledger, complete account reconciliations, prepare journal entries and adjustments, and help ensure timely and accurate month-end close activities. The ideal candidate brings a solid foundation in accounting, enjoys investigating and resolving discrepancies, and is energized by opportunities to improve processes through technology, automation, and AI-enabled tools.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain and support general ledger accounting activities, including the preparation and posting of journal entries.
  • Perform timely and accurate balance sheet, bank, credit card, and other account reconciliations.
  • Research reconciling items, investigate variances, and coordinate with internal departments to resolve discrepancies.
  • Prepare and post recurring, standard, and adjusting journal entries as needed.
  • Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring deadlines and accounting standards are met.
  • Review financial data for completeness, accuracy, and proper classification within the general ledger.
  • Support the preparation of schedules, reconciliations, and documentation for internal reporting, external audits, and financial reviews.
  • Assist with cash activity, bank account maintenance, and reconciliation of banking-related transactions.
  • Reconcile corporate credit card activity and support the resolution of outstanding employee or vendor-related items.
  • Help identify opportunities to strengthen accounting controls, improve workflows, and reduce manual processing.
  • Leverage available financial systems, automation, AI-supported tools, and data analysis capabilities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and visibility within accounting processes.
  • Partner with accounting, finance, operations, and shared-services teams to answer questions, resolve issues, and support business initiatives.
  • Maintain organized, audit-ready support for account balances, journal entries, and reconciliation activity.
  • Perform other accounting and finance-related responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business discipline preferred.
  • Two or more years of accounting, general ledger, reconciliation, audit, or financial reporting experience preferred.
  • Prior experience in a large, multi-entity, high-volume, or corporate accounting environment is a plus.
  • Experience with Workday Financial and/or Adaptive Planning is strongly preferred.

Skills and Attributes

  • Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, debits and credits, accruals, adjustments, and account reconciliation principles.
  • Demonstrated experience completing bank reconciliations, credit card reconciliations, and balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Ability to identify irregularities, research transaction-level detail, and bring issues to resolution.
  • High degree of accuracy, attention to detail, organization, and ownership over assigned work.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to work with formulas, pivot tables, reconciliations, and large data sets.
  • Comfortable learning and applying new systems, process-improvement methods, automation, and AI-enabled technology in a practical business environment.
  • Curiosity about how AI and emerging finance technology can enhance analysis, reduce manual effort, and support stronger decision-making.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Professional communication skills and the ability to work effectively with internal stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Sound judgment, discretion, and a commitment to maintaining confidential financial information.
