We are recruiting for a highly regarded international school in Indonesia, located on an impressive 44-acre campus in the vibrant city of Jakarta. The school is a welcoming, inclusive community representing over 50 nationalities and providing education for students aged 2 to 18 years.

The curriculum begins with the UK Early Years Foundation Stage, progresses through the English National Curriculum and inquiry-based learning in Primary, and continues into the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP), Diploma Programme (DP), and Career-related Programme (CP) in Secondary. Individuals & Societies plays a central role in developing students understanding of history, geography, global contexts, and contemporary issues through inquiry-based learning.
The Role
Following an increase in student enrolment, the school is seeking a Teacher of Individuals & Societies (MYP) to join the Secondary faculty from August 2026. This role focuses on teaching Integrated Humanities (History and Geography) across IB MYP Years 1–5 (Years 7–11), using inquiry- and concept-based approaches that encourage critical thinking, global awareness, and student agency.
The successful candidate will also contribute enthusiastically to Year 7 and Year 8 as part of the schools future Middle School initiative, supporting continuity and coherence in students learning experiences. In addition to teaching responsibilities, the role includes facilitating regular wellbeing sessions, contributing to students personal development and pastoral care.
Key Responsibilities
The Teacher of Individuals & Societies will plan and deliver engaging, concept-driven units aligned with IB philosophy, supporting students in developing historical and geographical understanding, research skills, and the ability to analyse global issues from multiple perspectives.
The role includes monitoring and assessing student progress using a range of formative and summative strategies, providing timely and constructive feedback, and supporting students through structured inquiry, investigations, and project work.
Collaboration is central to the role. The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues within the Individuals & Societies faculty and across the Secondary School, contributing to curriculum planning, moderation, and professional reflection. They will maintain positive communication with students, colleagues, and parents, and actively support the schools wellbeing and pastoral programmes.
Candidate Profile
Applicants should hold a relevant degree in History, Geography, Humanities, or a related field, along with a recognised teaching qualification such as a PGCE or equivalent. A minimum of five years relevant teaching experience is required. Experience teaching the IB Middle Years Programme is strongly preferred, alongside a clear understanding of inquiry- and concept-based pedagogy.
The school is seeking an educator with outstanding subject knowledge, a strong track record of high-quality teaching, and the ability to teach confidently across the Secondary age range. Strong interpersonal skills, enthusiasm for exemplary teaching and learning, and a collaborative, student-centred approach are essential.
