Teacher of Korean
Start Date: August 2026
About the School
We are recruiting for a highly regarded international school in Indonesia, located on an impressive 44-acre campus in the vibrant city of Jakarta. The school is a welcoming and inclusive community representing over 50 nationalities and providing education for students aged 2 to 18.
Situated in South West Jakarta, the campus offers outstanding facilities that support academic excellence, creativity, and wellbeing. The curriculum begins with the UK Early Years Foundation Stage, continues through the English National Curriculum and inquiry-based learning in Primary, and progresses into the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP), Diploma Programme (DP), and Career-related Programme (CP) in Secondary. The school places strong emphasis on language learning, multilingualism, and intercultural understanding, offering pathways that support first-language development alongside bilingual education.
The Role
Following an increase in student enrolment, the school is seeking a Teacher of Korean to join the Secondary faculty from August 2026. This role plays a key part in delivering and developing the Korean first-language pathway within the school, supporting students from the Middle Years Programme through to the Diploma Programme.
The successful candidate will teach Korean A: Literature in the IB Diploma Programme at Standard Level and/or Higher Level, as well as Korean Language and Literature across the MYP (Years 7–11). The role requires a strong understanding of inquiry- and concept-based learning, and a commitment to supporting native or near-native Korean-speaking students in developing high levels of academic literacy, critical analysis, and expressive accuracy in their first language.
In addition to classroom teaching, the teacher will act as a form tutor within the Secondary School (Years 7–13), contributing to students academic progress, wellbeing, and pastoral care.
Key Responsibilities
The Teacher of Korean will plan and deliver engaging, concept-driven lessons aligned with IB philosophy across both the MYP and DP. They will support students in analysing literary texts, developing critical thinking, and refining written and oral expression in Korean.
The role includes maintaining and further developing the Korean first-language pathway, ensuring continuity and progression from MYP into DP, including support for students pursuing the bilingual IB Diploma. The teacher will assess student progress using a range of formative and summative strategies, provide timely and constructive feedback, and support students through internal assessments and IB examination preparation.
Collaboration is central to the role. The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues within the language department and across the Secondary School, contributing to curriculum planning, moderation, and professional development. They will maintain effective communication with students, parents, and colleagues, and actively support the pastoral and wellbeing programme as a form tutor.

Applicants should hold a relevant degree and a recognised teaching qualification (such as a PGCE or equivalent). Native or near-native proficiency in Korean is essential. Experience teaching IB Korean A: Literature and/or IB MYP Language and Literature is strongly preferred, along with a clear understanding of IB assessment and inquiry-based pedagogy.
The school is seeking an educator with excellent subject knowledge, strong classroom practice, and the ability to create an inclusive, academically rigorous learning environment.
