We are looking for a dedicated and experienced High School English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher for an August 2025 start. 

The candidate should be passionate about fostering a love of reading, writing, and critical thinking in students. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of literature and composition, and the ability to connect these concepts to students' lives in meaningful ways.

The ELA Teacher will teach a range of high school classes, guiding students through the exploration of classic and contemporary works of literature, the development of analytical and creative writing skills, and the mastery of essential grammar and language skills. The teacher will help students not only understand texts but also relate them to broader cultural, social, and historical contexts, preparing them for both standardized exams and the critical thinking required in higher education and life.

The school, founded in 2016, is a K-12 international school located at the foot of the picturesque and historic YuQuan Mountain, Haidian District in Beijing. The campus is 200,000 square meters of beautiful gardens that integrate natural ecology, cultural heritage, and modern beauty with 140,000 square meters of green space.

The school curriculum is organized into the Elementary School, grades K-5, the Middle School, grades 6-8, and High School, grades 9-12. Under the guidance of the Ministry of Educations nine-year compulsory education program, the curriculum is built on the strength from both Chinese and western education.

For Elementary and Middle School, the school follows a bilingual program using the US Common Core and Next Generation Science Standards along with the Chinese National Curriculum.
For High School, the school follows the US Common Core and College Board AP curriculum and also offers the UK IGCSE and A-Level UK programs.

Qualifications and Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Four-year degree from an accredited university
- Bachelor of Education, PGCE, Teaching license: QTS, national/state teaching license/certificate or equivalent
- Three years of experience teaching in a bilingual school, international school, or government/state school


Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and rigorous lessons in English literature, writing, reading comprehension, and language arts to high school students.
  • Teach a range of ELA topics, including classic and contemporary literature, literary analysis, rhetoric, composition, grammar, and vocabulary development.
  • Guide students in developing critical reading, writing, and thinking skills through the study of novels, poetry, plays, and non-fiction texts.
  • Help students improve their writing skills across various genres, including argumentative essays, research papers, creative writing, and formal reports.
  • Provide detailed feedback on student writing and assignments, supporting their growth in literacy, grammar, and composition.
  • Incorporate diverse texts and perspectives to enhance students' understanding of different cultures, histories, and viewpoints.
  • Foster an inclusive and supportive classroom environment that encourages active participation, discussion, and collaboration.
  • Utilize differentiated instruction strategies to meet the needs of students with varying abilities, learning styles, and backgrounds.
  • Prepare students for standardized assessments, college admissions exams (e.g., SAT, ACT), and any other relevant external exams.
  • Assess and monitor student progress through a variety of assessments, including projects, essays, quizzes, and exams.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and classroom activities.
  • Stay current with trends in ELA education and participate in professional development opportunities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the English department to create interdisciplinary projects and ensure a cohesive curriculum.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities, such as school publications, writing clubs, or drama productions.
