Grade 5 English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher - January 2025 Start
Position Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Grade 5 English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher to join a committed teaching team. The successful candidate will inspire a love for reading, writing, and critical thinking while supporting students' language development and academic growth.
The school, founded in 2016, is a K-12 international school located at the foot of the picturesque and historic YuQuan Mountain, Haidian District in Beijing. The campus is 200,000 square meters of beautiful gardens that integrate natural ecology, cultural heritage, and modern beauty with 140,000 square meters of green space.
The school curriculum is organized into the Elementary School, grades K-5, the Middle School, grades 6-8, and High School, grades 9-12. Under the guidance of the Ministry of Educations nine-year compulsory education program, the curriculum is built on the strength from both Chinese and western education.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, develop, and deliver engaging ELA lessons aligned with the school's curriculum and standards.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment that promotes a love for literature and learning.
- Use a variety of teaching strategies to address diverse learning styles and abilities.
- Implement lessons that focus on grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, writing, and critical analysis.
- Integrate technology and modern instructional tools to enhance learning experiences.
- Assess and evaluate student progress regularly, providing constructive feedback to guide improvement.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop cross-curricular learning opportunities.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding students progress and development.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development sessions, and school events.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, and behavior.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Education, English, or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification or equivalent teaching qualification.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience teaching ELA at the elementary or middle school level preferred.
- Strong knowledge of reading and writing pedagogies and ELA curriculum standards.
- Excellent classroom management and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in integrating technology into instruction.
