Job Description: Cloudland Kindergarten is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Curriculum Designer and Coach to join our leadership team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping our curriculum and supporting teachers in delivering high-quality learning experiences that align with our vision and mission.
Key Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Design and Innovation:
- Collaborate with the leadership team to design and implement an inquiry-based curriculum that promotes learning through play for children aged 2-6 years old.
- Research, develop, and incorporate innovative and engaging teaching strategies, activities, and resources into the curriculum to enhance student learning outcomes.
- Stay abreast of current educational trends, best practices, and research to continuously improve and innovate the curriculum.
- Teacher Coaching and Support:
- Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and support to teachers in implementing the curriculum effectively.
- Identify areas where teachers may need assistance or improvement in their practice and develop tailored support plans to address these needs.
- Model effective teaching strategies in the classroom when required, facilitate professional development sessions, and establish peer coaching opportunities to encourage collaboration and knowledge sharing among staff.
- Use assessment data to plan and improve teaching and learning across the kindergarten.
- Performance Management and Appraisal:
- Collaborate with the Principal and other leaders to ensure that teachers meet performance standards in line with International Schools Services (ISS) appraisal standards.
- Conduct or support the Principals appraisal observations and provide constructive feedback to teachers to promote professional growth and development.
- Assist in the development and implementation of performance improvement plans for teachers who are identified as requiring additional support.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work collaboratively with Principals, teaching teams, and ISS to ensure consistency and coherence in curriculum delivery across all age groups.
- Maintain open communication channels with staff, fostering a culture of trust, transparency, and professionalism.
- Uphold confidentiality when necessary, particularly when dealing with sensitive personnel matters or student information.
- Professional Development and Knowledge Sharing:
- Organize and facilitate professional development opportunities, workshops, and training sessions for staff to enhance their pedagogical skills and knowledge.
- Encourage teachers to engage in research, apply new ideas, and reflect on best practices to continually improve their teaching.
Qualifications and Skills:
Essential:
- Bachelors degree and Teaching Certification (Education-related Degree or Masters degree preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience in early childhood or primary education.
- Proven experience in curriculum design and development, preferably in an inquiry-based learning environment.
- Strong coaching, mentoring, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to support and empower teachers effectively.
Preferred:
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively within a team.
- Knowledge of International Schools Services (ISS) appraisal standards and experience in coaching for performance improvement.
- Demonstrated empathy, care, and professionalism in supporting colleagues and fostering a positive learning environment.
