The school is a bilingual IB World School situated in Muscat, Oman serving the local Omani community, as well as the bilingual expatriate community. The school is authorised to offer all three International Baccalaureate (IB) programs and the quality of its provision has been recognized with accreditation from the Council for International Schools (CIS).

We are actively seeking an experienced and passionate Primary SEN Teacher to join the school. This role presents an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the academic and holistic development of young learners within the framework of the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP).

Overview of the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Primary SEN Teacher to join an inclusive and supportive school community. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting students with diverse learning needs, implementing individualized learning plans, and fostering an inclusive environment where all students can achieve their full potential. This role requires a collaborative approach, working closely with classroom teachers, the SEN team, and parents.

Key Responsibilities

1. Teaching and Learning Support

  • Plan and deliver individualized and small-group lessons tailored to the needs of students with SEN.
  • Differentiate the curriculum to ensure access and engagement for all learners.
  • Support classroom teachers in implementing inclusive teaching strategies and accommodations.
  • Use appropriate resources and teaching methods to meet the needs of students with varying abilities.

2. Assessment and Progress Monitoring

  • Conduct assessments to identify students strengths, needs, and progress.
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with the SEN team.
  • Monitor and record student progress, adjusting strategies as needed.
  • Provide regular updates to parents and school leadership on student progress and challenges.

3. Collaboration and Communication

  • Work closely with classroom teachers to plan and implement inclusive lessons.
  • Liaise with the SEN Coordinator, external specialists, and therapists to provide targeted support.
  • Build strong relationships with parents and guardians to support students' learning and well-being.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings to develop and review student support plans.

4. Classroom and Behavioral Support

  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Implement behavior management strategies to support students with social, emotional, and behavioral needs.
  • Encourage students independence and confidence in their learning.

5. Professional Development

  • Engage in professional learning to stay updated on best practices in SEN education.
  • Participate in workshops, training sessions, and conferences related to SEN and inclusive education.
  • Share expertise and support colleagues in developing inclusive practices across the school.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.
  • Teaching certification, with a focus on the IB Primary Years Programme preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience, with a focus on SEN or inclusive education.
  • Strong understanding of SEN strategies, differentiation, and IEP development.
  • Familiarity with the IB PYP curriculum and philosophy.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
