Position Overview

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Year 5 & 6 Mathematics Teacher to join our Middle School team. The ideal candidate will be an experienced educator with a strong mathematics background, capable of designing engaging and differentiated lessons that develop numeracy skills, confidence, and critical thinking in young learners. The role also includes providing pastoral support as a Mentor Teacher to Year 5 students, fostering both their academic and personal development.

The teaching timetable consists of 18 lessons per week out of a total of 30, allowing time for planning, collaboration, pastoral responsibilities, and co-curricular involvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver well-planned, engaging, and inquiry-based mathematics lessons for Year 5 & 6 students.

  • Provide pastoral care and mentorship to Year 5 students as a Mentor Teacher.

  • Set high academic and behavioural expectations that inspire and challenge students.

  • Create a supportive and inclusive classroom culture that encourages participation and resilience.

  • Adapt curriculum materials to suit the needs and levels of individual learners.

  • Use strong communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.

  • Participate in school-wide events and support extracurricular programmes.

  • Demonstrate openness and sensitivity in adapting to a multicultural school community.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of full-time teaching experience.

  • Bachelors Degree in Education or a degree with PGCE or equivalent international teaching qualification.

  • Outstanding command of the English language.

  • Experience with inquiry-based or concept-based teaching approaches.

  • Strong cultural adaptability and a collaborative working style.
