Position Summary: We are looking for a passionate and experienced Phonics Specialist to join our team, dedicated to supporting language acquisition and literacy development in young learners aged 2 to 6. The Phonics Specialist will conduct engaging, interactive, and developmentally appropriate classes to build foundational phonics skills in young students, helping them develop early reading, listening, and speaking abilities. This role requires delivering 23 classes per week, each lasting 30 minutes, within a bilingual kindergarten setting in China.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Phonics Instruction: Teach 23 phonics classes per week, each 30 minutes long, to young learners between 2 and 6 years of age. Use age-appropriate and engaging techniques to develop students' foundational phonics skills, including letter recognition, sound blending, and pronunciation.
  • Curriculum Development: Plan, develop, and implement a phonics curriculum tailored to different age groups, promoting literacy skills through playful and immersive phonics instruction.
  • Interactive Learning: Create a fun and dynamic classroom environment where young learners can actively participate in phonics activities, using stories, songs, visuals, and games to support language acquisition.
  • Student Assessment: Monitor and assess each childs progress, adapting instruction based on individual needs. Provide regular feedback to teachers and administration to support each childs literacy journey.
  • Collaboration with Staff: Work closely with classroom teachers and administration to ensure phonics instruction aligns with the overall language and literacy goals of the kindergarten. Share best practices and collaborate on strategies to support literacy development in the classroom.
  • Parent Communication: Provide periodic updates to parents on their childs progress in phonics, sharing tips and resources to support language development at home.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field. An associate's degree with relevant experience may also be considered.
  • Experience: At least 2 years of experience working with young children, particularly in a preschool or early childhood setting.
  • Certifications: Relevant teaching qualification/license PGCE, B.Ed, QTS, State Licence. Recognised National Qual. Not TEFL
