The school is a bilingual IB World School situated in Muscat, Oman serving the local Omani community, as well as the bilingual expatriate community. The school is authorised to offer all three International Baccalaureate (IB) programs and the quality of its provision has been recognized with accreditation from the Council for International Schools (CIS).

We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable IB Psychology Teacher to join the secondary school team. The successful candidate will inspire students to explore and understand human behavior, cognitive processes, and mental health through the International Baccalaureate (IB) framework. This role involves teaching IB Psychology at the Diploma Programme (DP) level, fostering critical thinking and inquiry-based learning, and preparing students for academic success in alignment with IB standards. The candidate will also contribute to the development of the IB Psychology curriculum and actively participate in school activities and initiatives that promote the IB ethos.

Key Responsibilities

1. Teaching and Learning

  • Deliver engaging and effective Psychology lessons tailored to the needs of secondary-level students.
  • Use a variety of instructional strategies to promote active learning and student engagement.
  • Foster critical thinking, analytical skills, and inquiry-based learning in students.
  • Incorporate real-world applications and current psychological research into lessons.

2. Curriculum Development and Assessment

  • Plan and develop Psychology curriculum content in alignment with the schools educational standards
  • Prepare students for internal and external assessments and examinations.
  • Design and implement formative and summative assessments to track student progress.
  • Use data to inform teaching and ensure continuous improvement in student outcomes.

3. Classroom Environment

  • Establish and maintain a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Use effective classroom management strategies to promote learning.
  • Create an atmosphere that encourages discussion, debate, and exploration of psychological concepts.

4. Collaboration and Communication

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance the Psychology curriculum and teaching practices.
  • Communicate regularly with parents about student progress and achievements.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities.

5. Professional Development

  • Stay up to date with advancements in Psychology and changes in educational practices.
  • Attend workshops, conferences, and training sessions to enhance teaching skills and subject knowledge.
  • Reflect on and refine teaching methodologies for continuous improvement.

6. Contribution to School Life

  • Support extracurricular activities, such as Psychology clubs, mental health awareness initiatives, or student mentoring programs.
  • Actively participate in school events, open days, and staff development activities.
  • Promote a positive school culture and contribute to the overall mission and vision of the school.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Psychology or a related field.
  • Teaching certification, with a focus on the IB Programme preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience,
  • Familiarity with the IB curriculum and philosophy.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
