The school is a bilingual IB World School situated in Muscat, Oman serving the local Omani community, as well as the bilingual expatriate community. The school is authorised to offer all three International Baccalaureate (IB) programs and the quality of its provision has been recognized with accreditation from the Council for International Schools (CIS).
We are actively seeking an experienced and passionate Secondary Mathematics Teacher to join the school. This role presents an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the academic and holistic development of young learners within the framework of the IB Curriculum.
Overview of the Role
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Secondary Mathematics Teacher to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Mathematics to students in secondary school, fostering a love of learning, and developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills. This role involves delivering engaging lessons, monitoring student progress, and contributing to the wider school community.
Key Responsibilities
1. Teaching and Learning
- Plan and deliver engaging and challenging Mathematics lessons in line with the school curriculum.
- Prepare students for internal assessments, external exams, and university readiness where applicable.
- Use a variety of teaching methods and resources to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
- Encourage critical thinking, inquiry, and a growth mindset in students.
2. Curriculum and Assessment
- Develop lesson plans and schemes of work aligned with the schools curriculum framework.
- Design and administer formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to students to support their academic development.
- Integrate technology and innovative approaches into lessons to enhance learning.
3. Classroom Management
- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes respect and responsibility.
- Implement effective classroom management strategies to ensure a safe and focused learning space.
- Encourage student participation and engagement in all activities.
4. Communication and Collaboration
- Build strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues to support student success.
- Maintain clear and open communication with parents regarding student progress and challenges.
- Participate actively in department meetings, collaborative planning sessions, and school events.
5. Professional Development
- Engage in ongoing professional learning to stay updated on best practices in Mathematics education.
- Participate in school-organized training, workshops, and conferences.
- Reflect on teaching practices to ensure continuous improvement.
6. Contribution to School Life
- Support extracurricular activities, such as Math clubs, competitions, or tutoring programs.
- Actively participate in school events, open days, and initiatives.
- Contribute to a culture of academic excellence and community involvement within the school.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Bachelor's degree in Mathematics or a related field.
- Teaching certification, with a focus on the Programme preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience,
- Familiarity with the IB curriculum and philosophy.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
