The school is a bilingual IB World School situated in Muscat, Oman serving the local Omani community, as well as the bilingual expatriate community. The school is authorised to offer all three International Baccalaureate (IB) programs and the quality of its provision has been recognized with accreditation from the Council for International Schools (CIS).

We are actively seeking an experienced and passionate Primary Music Teacher to join the school. This role presents an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the academic and holistic development of young learners within the framework of the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP).

Overview of the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and creative Primary Music Teacher to inspire young learners through engaging, dynamic, and inclusive music lessons. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality music education, fostering a love of music, and supporting students in developing their musical skills and appreciation. This role also involves planning and leading performances, assemblies, and other musical events that enhance the school community.

Key Responsibilities

1. Teaching and Learning

  • Plan and deliver engaging and age-appropriate music lessons for primary students.
  • Introduce students to a variety of musical concepts, instruments, and genres.
  • Encourage creativity and participation through singing, instrument playing, movement, and composition activities.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of all students.

2. Curriculum Implementation

  • Develop and implement a music curriculum aligned with school standards and philosophies.
  • Integrate cross-curricular themes and concepts into music lessons when appropriate.
  • Foster students' appreciation for global music traditions and cultural diversity.

3. Performance and Events

  • Plan and lead music performances, including assemblies, concerts, and special events.
  • Prepare students for school-wide productions and other extracurricular music activities.
  • Collaborate with other teachers and staff on interdisciplinary projects and events.

4. Classroom Environment

  • Create a supportive and inspiring classroom atmosphere that encourages student engagement and creativity.
  • Maintain and manage musical instruments, equipment, and resources effectively.
  • Foster an environment that aligns with the schools values and promotes the IB Learner Profile (if applicable).

5. Professional Development

  • Stay updated on best practices in music education and integrate them into teaching.
  • Participate in school-organized professional learning and training sessions.
  • Contribute to the wider school community by supporting and sharing expertise in music education.

6. Collaboration and Communication

  • Build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Communicate regularly with parents about student progress and achievements.
  • Work collaboratively with the schools arts team to enhance the creative curriculum.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Music or a related field.
  • Teaching certification, with a focus on the IB Primary Years Programme preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience,
  • Familiarity with the IB PYP curriculum and philosophy.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
