As an American History Teacher, you will guide students through the rich tapestry of the United States' past, exploring significant events, movements, and figures that have shaped the nation. Your classroom will be a hub of inquiry-based learning, critical analysis, and meaningful discussions, empowering students to draw connections between historical events and contemporary issues.
Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum Development & Instruction:
- Plan, develop, and deliver engaging American History lessons aligned with international curriculum standards.
- Utilize innovative teaching methodologies, including primary source analysis, technology integration, and project-based learning, to enhance student understanding.
- Foster a classroom environment that encourages critical thinking, debate, and historical analysis.
Student Development & Assessment:
- Assess and monitor student progress through formative and summative assessments.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to support students' academic growth and historical analysis skills.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs and learning styles of students.
Collaboration & Professional Development:
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop cross-curricular projects and maintain consistency in humanities instruction across grade levels.
- Stay current with developments in history education and integrate best practices into the classroom.
- Participate in professional development opportunities, school-wide initiatives, and departmental meetings.
Parent Communication & Extracurricular Activities:
- Establish and maintain open and effective communication with parents/guardians regarding student progress and learning experiences.
- Participate in parent-teacher conferences and provide detailed feedback on student academic performance.
- Engage in extracurricular activities, history clubs, and school events to enrich student experiences beyond the classroom.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Minimum Qualifications:
- Four-year degree in History, Education, or a related field from an accredited university.
- Bachelor of Education, PGCE, or equivalent teaching license: QTS, national/state teaching license/certificate.
- Three years of experience teaching American History in a bilingual school, international school, or government/state school.
Remuneration & Benefits:
The salary and benefits package provided is highly competitive, depending on the qualifications and experiences of the successful candidate.
- Salary: $55K - $67K per year plus bonus payment and pension
