About the School
We are recruiting for a highly regarded international school in Indonesia, located on an impressive 44-acre campus in the vibrant city of Jakarta. The school is a welcoming, inclusive community representing over 50 nationalities and providing education for students aged 2 to 18 years.
Situated in South West Jakarta, the campus offers outstanding facilities that support academic excellence, wellbeing, and personalised student pathways. The curriculum begins with the UK Early Years Foundation Stage, progresses through the English National Curriculum and inquiry-based learning in Primary, and continues into the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP), Diploma Programme (DP), and Career-related Programme (CP) in Secondary. The school places a strong emphasis on informed post-school choices, global university access, and holistic student guidance.
The Role
Following an increase in student enrolment, the school is seeking an experienced University Guidance Counsellor Lead to provide strategic leadership for the university and careers guidance programme from August 2026. This is a senior role within the Secondary School, responsible for shaping and delivering a coherent, high-quality guidance provision across Years 7–13, aligned with the schools values and academic pathways.
The successful candidate will combine strategic oversight with high-quality individual counselling, ensuring students are well supported in making informed, aspirational post-school decisions. The role includes leadership of the University Guidance Counselling team, alongside responsibility for developing systems, processes, and partnerships that enhance student outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
The University Guidance Counsellor Lead will design, review, and implement guidance pathways that support students academic planning and post-secondary transitions, including advice on subject choices, IB routes, and global university application processes, with particular attention to UK and US admissions.
The role involves leading, coaching, and supporting the University Guidance Counselling team, ensuring consistent standards, effective communication, and well-managed operational systems. The successful candidate will oversee the accurate tracking, reporting, and communication of university applications, offers, destinations, and departmental data for internal and external audiences.
Building and sustaining strong relationships with global universities, professional bodies, and external partners is a key aspect of the role, with responsibility for representing the school at relevant events, fairs, and conferences. The Counsellor Lead will also work closely with senior leaders, teachers, students, and families to ensure a cohesive and informed approach to student guidance.
Candidate Profile
Applicants should have a relevant degree and substantial professional experience in university guidance, careers counselling, or a related leadership role. A minimum of five years relevant experience is required, with strong knowledge of international university admissions systems, particularly UK and US pathways and the IB continuum.
The school is seeking a strategic, highly organised leader with excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to work effectively with students across the Secondary age range, and a proven track record of delivering high-quality guidance outcomes. Enthusiasm, discretion, and a commitment to exemplary practice are essential.
