Position Summary:
The Remote Payroll Clerk will play a vital role in ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll for our employees. This position requires strong attention to detail, confidentiality, and the ability to work independently in a remote environment. The ideal candidate will have experience with payroll systems, a solid understanding of payroll regulations, and excellent organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process bi-weekly and monthly payroll in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Collect, verify, and input employee timekeeping data, deductions, commissions, and bonuses
- Review and audit payroll reports for accuracy and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
- Maintain and update payroll records and employee information in the HRIS/payroll system
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues, wage calculations, and deductions
- Collaborate with HR and Finance departments to ensure consistent, compliant, and accurate data flow
- Prepare payroll-related reports for management and auditing purposes
- Stay up-to-date with changes in payroll laws and regulations affecting the company
- Ensure confidentiality and security of all payroll information and employee data
- Assist with year-end processes, including W-2 and other tax-related filings
- Support additional administrative or payroll tasks as required
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of payroll processing experience, preferably in a remote or distributed team environment
- Proficiency with payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, QuickBooks Payroll, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Strong understanding of payroll principles, wage and hour laws, and tax regulations
- Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to resolving issues
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working with multi-state payrolls
- Familiarity with HRIS systems and integration with payroll platforms
- Prior experience in a remote work environment
