Technical QA Automation Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Design, document, and execute test cases (functional, integration, end-to-end, regression, smoke) based on requirements and acceptance criteria, combining manual and automated testing strategies.

  • Develop, maintain, and improve automated test suites for web applications and APIs, and define which scenarios provide the most value to automate.

  • Validate APIs, services, and integration flows (e.g., Postman), and analyze logs, requests/responses, and technical errors to help identify root causes.

  • Identify, report, and track defects using tools like Jira; validate fixes and assess the impact of changes through regression testing.

  • Integrate and maintain automated tests within CI/CD pipelines, analyzing results to spot flaky tests, coverage gaps, and improvement opportunities.

  • Collaborate with developers, Product Owners, and QA teammates throughout the sprint cycle (planning, refinement, daily meetings, retrospectives), reviewing requirements from a quality/testability lens.

  • Maintain test environments and test data, and continuously propose improvements to testing processes, tools, and overall quality strategy.

Requirements

  • 5 years of QA experience, combining manual testing and test automation, with solid grounding in STLC/SDLC and Agile (Scrum).

  • Proven experience automating tests for web apps and/or APIs using frameworks like Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium, with JavaScript or TypeScript.

  • Solid testing fundamentals: functional/non-functional testing, black-box/white-box, equivalence partitioning, boundary value analysis, and clear, maintainable test case design.

  • API testing experience (Postman, Insomnia) and understanding of HTTP/REST, response codes, headers, and authentication.

  • Basic to intermediate SQL for data validation, plus experience with test/defect management tools (Jira, TestRail, Zephyr) and Git.

  • Strong knowledge of CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins) and ability to troubleshoot using browser dev tools, logs, and monitoring.

  • Strong communication skills to convey findings, risks, and quality issues, working both independently and cross-functionally.

Nice to Have

  • Performance testing experience (k6, JMeter, or similar).

  • Basic security testing for web applications and APIs.

  • Strong knowledge of relational and non-relational databases.

  • Experience with Docker, containerized environments, and microservices architectures.

  • Experience using AI/Generative AI tools and agentic workflows (including MCP) to accelerate QA and test automation processes.
