Educational Qualifications: Certification or diploma in Pastry Arts or a related field is preferred

Required Experiences:  Proven experience as a Pastry Cook, Baker, or similar role in a culinary or lab environment

Strong knowledge of pastry techniques, including mixing, baking, and decorating.

Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly with colleagues.

Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and experimental requirements.

Physical stamina and the ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects.

Job Description:

    The Assistant Pastry Chef supports the Head Pastry Chef in all aspects of pastry preparation and experimentation within the lab kitchen environment. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring the development and production of high-quality pastry items while maintaining adherence to strict culinary standards and procedures.

Responsibilities and Duties

Pastry Preparation:

Assist the Head Pastry Chef in preparing and producing a variety of pastry items, including cakes, pastries, desserts, and breads.

Follow recipes and formulas accurately, ensuring consistency in taste, texture, and presentation.

Lab Operations:

Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pastry lab, including workstations, equipment, and storage areas.

Monitor inventory levels of pastry ingredients and supplies and assist in ordering as necessary.

Quality Control:

Conduct quality checks on ingredients and finished products to ensure they meet lab standards and specifications.

Assist in documenting recipes, procedures, and observations during experimentation and testing phases.

Collaboration and Support:

Work collaboratively with lab team members to execute pastry experiments and trials.

Provide support during research and development activities, contributing ideas and suggestions for new pastry creations.

Safety and Compliance:

Adhere to strict food safety and hygiene practices, including proper handling, storage, and disposal of ingredients.

Report any safety hazards or maintenance issues to the appropriate personnel promptly.
