The Safety Analyst is responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and improving safety performance across operations. This role supports the identification of risks, investigation of incidents, and implementation of safety initiatives to ensure compliance with regulations and promote a strong safety culture.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Operational Safety Audits and Inspections:
- Support Operational Safety Audits.
- Perform inspections of records/control systems.
Safety Event and Hazard Management:
- Classify operational safety events/hazards.
- Conduct investigations of safety events.
- Assist competent aeronautical authorities as necessary.
Documentation and Procedure Management:
- Keep key procedures and documents of the Operational Safety Management System updated.
- Perform documentary assurance of manuals and documents related to Operations procedures.
Process Improvement and Communication:
- Conduct Improvement and Communication processes.
- Monitor Corrective, Preventive, and Improvement Actions within operations.
Hazard Analysis and Monitoring:
- Establish and document Hazard Analysis within the organization.
- Monitor the implementation of changes and improvements proposed by departments.
- Monitor operational safety indicators.
Audits and Compliance:
- Support the reception of customer and regulatory audits.
- Comply with the Policies, Objectives, and Requirements of the Operational Safety Management System.
Training and Development:
- Control training/instruction in SMS.
- Execute SMS training according to the procedure.
Emergency Response and Crisis Management:
- Support the implementation of the Emergency Response Plan (ERP).
- Operational Safety System Maintenance:
- Maintain and improve the SMS.
- Develop SMS communications promoting operational safety.
- Prepare minutes, monitor indicators, and overall logistics of the operational safety system.
- Functions and Responsibilities in relation to SMS are:
- Comply with the Policies, Objectives and Requirements of the Operational Safety Management System,
- Actively participate in the Operational Safety Reporting System,
- Inform the Operational Safety and Risk Management of the dangers, accidents, incidents, unsafe acts, violations, deviations and unsafe conditions that are generated in the operation and maintenance work.
- Address and establish action plans to close non-conformities generated during the different audits scheduled by internal auditors.
- Receive, read and understand the information provided by Operational Safety and act in accordance with the given guidelines.
- Attend and approve the Operational Safety Instruction.
- Receive and answer the Operational Safety surveys designed by the Operational Safety and Risk Management.
Investigations and Risk Assessment:
- Support the development of operational safety investigations.
- Conduct analysis and assessment of risks associated with operational safety hazards reported by personnel.
Record Keeping:
- Keep the operational safety audit record in the "SMS Control" up to date.
- Keep the "Report Registry Control" and "Risk and Change Analysis Control" up to date concerning audits, findings, operational safety reports.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:
Qualifications:
- Education: A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Safety, Engineering, Industrial Management, or a related discipline is often required.
- Certifications: Industry-specific certifications related to safety management, such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), can be advantageous and demonstrate a higher level of expertise.
Experience:
- Years of Experience: A minimum of 4 years of professional experience is required.
- Safety Management Experience: Prior experience in safety management, safety analysis, or related roles is highly desirable. Experience in conducting safety audits, incident investigations, and risk assessments is valuable.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with aviation regulations, safety standards, and best practices relevant to the industry. Additional specialized experience such as knowledge of FDA analysis (optional), ERP systems (optional), and expertise in root cause analysis and quality assurance is advantageous.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills to assess safety data, identify trends, and develop actionable insights for improving safety performance.
- Project Management: Experience in managing safety-related projects and initiatives, including the ability to plan, execute, and monitor safety improvement projects.
Skills:
- Data Analysis: Proficiency in using analytical tools and software to process and analyze safety data. Knowledge of statistical analysis can be an asset.
- Risk Assessment: Ability to conduct risk assessments, hazard identification, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to prepare reports, present findings, and effectively communicate safety procedures.
- Problem Solving: Strong problem-solving skills to identify safety issues and develop practical solutions.
- Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail to identify potential safety hazards and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
