Job Summary: We are looking for an organized and efficient Line Cook to join our kitchen team. The Line Cook will be responsible for preparing food items according to recipes, maintaining cleanliness in their workstation, and ensuring that orders are prepared in a timely manner. The ideal candidate has excellent cooking skills, can handle a fast-paced environment, and is committed to upholding the highest standards of food safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Food Preparation: Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes and specifications, ensuring consistency in quality, taste, and presentation.
  • Station Setup: Set up and stock stations with necessary supplies, ingredients, and equipment, keeping the workstation clean and organized throughout service.
  • Order Execution: Work closely with other kitchen staff to prepare dishes according to customer orders, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Health and Safety Compliance: Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines, including proper storage, handling, and cooking of food items to prevent contamination.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor ingredient stock levels, notify the kitchen manager of shortages, and assist with inventory rotation.
  • Collaboration: Communicate effectively with the kitchen team to ensure smooth operations and consistent output during service hours.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Previous experience as a line cook or in a similar role in a commercial kitchen is preferred.
  • Skills: Proficiency in cooking techniques, knife handling, and kitchen equipment use.
  • Certifications: Food Handler Certification is required by most Canadian provinces.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to follow recipes and plating standards precisely.
  • Physical Requirements: Capability to stand for long periods, lift heavy pots, and work in a hot environment.
