Job Summary: We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Pastry Cook to join our kitchen team. The Pastry Cook will be responsible for preparing a wide variety of desserts, pastries, and other baked goods while maintaining high standards of quality and presentation. The ideal candidate has experience in pastry arts, a passion for baking, and a commitment to food safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Dessert Preparation: Prepare and bake pastries, desserts, and breads according to established recipes, ensuring consistency in taste and presentation.
  • Creative Decoration: Decorate cakes, pastries, and other desserts with precision, ensuring an attractive and appetizing display.
  • Ingredient Management: Measure and mix ingredients accurately, following recipes and ensuring minimal waste.
  • Quality Control: Maintain a high level of quality and presentation for all baked items, ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Inventory and Supplies: Assist in monitoring inventory levels, ordering ingredients as needed, and properly storing perishables.
  • Cleanliness and Organization: Keep the pastry station and work areas clean, organized, and in compliance with food safety regulations.
  • Menu Development Support: Work with the Pastry Chef to develop new dessert ideas, seasonal items, and special-order requests.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Previous experience in a pastry or baking role is preferred; culinary school training in pastry arts is an asset.
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of baking techniques, decorating skills, and proficiency with pastry tools and equipment.
  • Certifications: Food Handler Certification (required in most Canadian provinces).
  • Attention to Detail: High attention to detail to ensure precise measurements, consistency, and presentation.
  • Creativity: A passion for creativity in desserts and an ability to design visually appealing products.

  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a hot kitchen environment.
  • Time Management: Excellent organizational and time-management skills to meet production schedules.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work various shifts, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
