Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Meat Cutter to join our team. The Meat Cutter will be responsible for preparing various cuts of meat, poultry, and fish, ensuring quality, freshness, and adherence to food safety standards. This role requires knowledge of cutting techniques, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently. The ideal candidate is experienced in handling meat products and has a strong commitment to cleanliness and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Meat Preparation: Cut, trim, debone, and portion different types of meat according to specifications, ensuring consistency in quality and presentation.
  • Customer Service: Provide friendly and knowledgeable service, responding to customer requests and providing information on cuts, cooking methods, and storage.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Maintain, clean, and sharpen cutting equipment, including knives and saws, and report any maintenance needs.
  • Stock Management: Monitor and organize inventory, ensure proper storage of meat products, and manage stock rotation to maintain freshness.
  • Safety and Hygiene Compliance: Adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines, including maintaining clean work areas and proper storage temperatures.
  • Quality Control: Inspect meat products for quality, removing any spoiled or damaged items as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Previous experience as a Meat Cutter or Butcher in a retail or meat-processing environment is preferred.
  • Skills: Proficiency in various meat-cutting techniques, including trimming, deboning, and portioning.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to work in a cold environment, lift heavy products, and perform repetitive tasks requiring physical strength and stamina.
  • Certifications: Food Handler Certification (required in most Canadian provinces).
