As a Fire Safety Engineer with our leading clean energy client, you'll serve as the subject matter expert ensuring the highest safety standards while supporting the transition to sustainable energy solutions. Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as Fire Safety SME for utility-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS)
  • Review and analyze UL 9540a reports from cell to installation level
  • Evaluate and approve fire safety system designs for BESS projects
  • Conduct comprehensive safety analyses including HMA, FMEA, heat flux, and CFD simulations
  • Build relationships with fire institutions, first responders, and regulatory authorities
  • Present BESS fire safety education to stakeholders and community groups
  • Standardize fire safety protocols across all project regions
  • Participate in industry technical committees and task groups
  • Develop standardized templates for third-party analysis and reporting

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
  • Professional Engineering (PE) certification strongly preferred
  • Minimum 10 years of engineering experience
  • Expertise in fire safety codes and standards (UL, NFPA, IFC)
  • Experience with battery energy storage systems preferred
  • Strong analytical skills for safety assessments and simulations
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities
  • Willingness to travel to various project locations
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record
