Payment Systems Engineer/Specialist (IBM FTM) – Contract

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled FTM ACH Specialist to support the installation, configuration, deployment, and ongoing support of IBM Financial Transaction Manager (FTM ACH) solutions within a complex enterprise payments environment.

This role involves working on critical payment processing systems, ensuring high availability, performance, and reliability. The ideal candidate will have strong Unix expertise, experience with financial/payment systems, and a passion for automation and problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support installation, configuration, and testing of IBM FTM ACH applications on Unix/AIX platforms
  • Design and maintain deployment packages and installation procedures for consistent, repeatable releases
  • Provide Level 3 production support, including troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and permanent fixes
  • Develop and execute automated test plans and scripts for system validation
  • Write scripts to automate deployments, monitoring, and system integrations
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve deployment standards and documentation
  • Create technical documentation including design specs, configuration standards, and user guides
  • Act as a technical consultant to internal teams and external vendors
  • Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation and provide support during off-hours when required
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to best practices

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience with IBM Financial Transaction Manager (FTM ACH) required.
  • Associate's degree from a two-year college or technical school or equivalent combination of education
    and/or work related experience. Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university preferred.
  • Strong experience with Unix/Linux environments (AIX preferred)
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex production issues and perform root cause analysis
  • Experience with scripting for automation (Shell, Python, or similar)
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills
  • Excellent communication and documentation abilities
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with WebSphere, DB2, IBM MQ
  • Familiarity with payment processing systems (ACH, financial transactions, etc.)
  • Experience with tools such as ServiceNow, JIRA, SharePoint, Visio
  • Background in system deployment, configuration, and automation in distributed environments
  • Prior experience supporting mission-critical financial systems
  • Experience with retail payments processing software including Financial Transaction Manager, or other payment
    software suites is preferred.

Additional Information

  • Must be able to participate in an on-call support rotation
  • Occasional evening or weekend work may be required
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills are essential
