Job Title: Controls Engineer (Delta V)

Job Location: Dallas, TX

Position Overview

Our client in Dallas, TX is seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to lead automation projects, with a strong focus on Delta V systems. This role involves working directly with customers, leading teams, and delivering solutions across Delta V, PLC, HMI, and SCADA platforms. Ideal candidates will have proven technical expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and a passion for building customer partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver innovative automation solutions and design standards either self-directed or as a team leader
  • Conceptualize, detail, and implement control systems for industrial processes and machinery
  • Develop control system architecture and select appropriate components
  • Create schematic diagrams and comprehensive system documentation
  • Program controllers (Delta V/PLC, DCS) using various programming languages
  • Develop HMI/SCADA systems for process visualization
  • Design and implement industrial networking systems using protocols like Ethernet/IP, Profinet, and Modbus
  • Lead project management activities including execution planning, budgeting, scheduling, and financial tracking
  • Oversee project operations up to $10M while ensuring overall profitability
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers and technicians

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Control Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • 8+ years of experience in industrial automation and control systems
  • In-depth understanding of Emerson DeltaV platform
  • Experience with PLC-5 to ControlLogix conversions
  • Proficiency with PLC platforms (Rockwell Automation, Siemens, Modicon)
  • Strong knowledge of HMI/SCADA platforms (Rockwell FactoryTalk, Plant Pax, Aveva System Platform, Ignition)
  • Understanding of Batch/Recipes, OEE, MES, and ERP systems
  • Experience leading engineering teams and mentoring less experienced engineers
  • Ability to travel up to 25% (mostly local to Dallas)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with VBA, .NET, SQL, and Python
  • Project Management experience (PMP certification a plus)
  • Experience in industries such as Semiconductor, Life Sciences, Building Automation, Food and Beverage
  • Experience in electrical schematic design and control panel design
  • AutoCAD proficiency
