Substation Commissioning Manager of Renewable Energy
12 months contract duration
Overview of the Role:
Join a critical mission to accelerate America's transition to clean energy as a Substation Commissioning Manager. You'll work on behalf of the project Owner on a portfolio of renewable energy (wind, solar, battery storage) projects, responsible for execution of assigned renewable power plant projects and teams as it relates to commissioning, start up and operational turnover.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure commissioning activities for assigned projects are performed with high quality and adhering to all safety policies
- Coordinate and manage EPC contractor personnel, OEM start up personnel, third party start up contractors, and operations personnel on site
- Ensure project reliability at operational turnover with plants exhibiting as little lost time as necessary in initial operation
- Maintain compliance with all project contractual documents including Power Purchase Agreement and Large Generator Interconnect Agreement deliverables
- Interface with Transmission Operators and Independent Service Operators to ensure project energization dates are achieved
- Manage onsite commissioning personnel and interface with safety, engineering, and quality control parties
Required Skills:
- Electrical construction and commissioning means and methods knowledge including NEC and NFPA
- Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) integration and troubleshooting
- E&I controls and instrumentation installation, startup and troubleshooting. Protection and Controls implementation and troubleshooting
- Drawing review quality control inspection
- Progress reporting
- Computer skills Outlook, PDF edit Word, Excel, document control systems and PowerPoint
- Management of third parties and suppliers. Management of direct report team members
- Schedule and planning understanding
Preferred Background:
- Self starter with a high drive for quality, execution, and safety
- 5 years experience in on-site project support for renewable power generation project construction start up and commissioning
- 3 years experience minimum working for an EPC in renewable power generation project construction start up and commissioning
- Proven track record and ability to interact with engineering personnel on highly technical issues, and then also interact with construction personnel on constructability, schedule, and cost issues as well
- Proven track record and ability to multi-task and oversee multiple projects at once
