Nuclear Engineer – Level II (Mechanical / Electrical / I&C)
Location: Remote
Contract Duration: 12 Months (Potential Extension)
Schedule: Full-Time (40 hours/week)
Overview
We are seeking experienced Nuclear Engineers (Level II) to support engineering design and modification projects for active nuclear power facilities. This role involves working on complex engineering challenges, developing design change packages, and ensuring compliance with nuclear regulatory standards.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in nuclear plant systems, design engineering, and regulatory compliance, along with the ability to work independently and lead technical initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and review engineering design change packages for plant modifications and equipment upgrades
- Evaluate system performance and resolve plant operational issues
- Lead and coordinate cross-functional engineering efforts across multiple disciplines and vendors
- Ensure compliance with nuclear safety standards and regulatory requirements
- Apply configuration management and engineering change (EC) processes
- Act as a technical consultant and provide guidance to engineering teams
- Support and mentor junior engineers on nuclear design and engineering practices
- Interface with operations, vendors, and regulatory stakeholders
Engineering Specializations (Any of the following)
- Electrical / I&C Engineering: Power systems, ladder logic, ETAP, EDISON, safe shutdown analysis
- Mechanical Engineering: Pumps, valves, heat exchangers, pipe stress, ASME standards
- Civil / Structural Engineering: Seismic analysis, pipe supports, structural design tools
- Valve Engineering (MOV): Diagnostics, troubleshooting, and program management
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or I&C Engineering
- 6–10 years of engineering experience, with strong exposure to nuclear power plant environments
- Minimum 2+ years working with NEI Standard Design Process
- Experience with 10 CFR 50.59 (screening and applicability determinations)
- Strong understanding of nuclear plant systems and operations
- Familiarity with industry codes and standards (e.g., ASME)
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) License
- Experience supporting design modifications and configuration management
- Background in multi-disciplinary engineering coordination
