Job Summary:

This position is both creative and developmental: it requires building the internal teams technical capacity in pattern making, fit analysis, and product specification, while introducing modern design methodologies to strengthen Artisans Angkors in-house apparel capabilities.

Main Responsibilities:

Design Development & Technical Oversight

  • Lead the design process from research, concept, and sketching to final prototypes.
  • Translate creative direction into accurate technical specifications and patterns.
  • Oversee sampling, fittings, and pattern adjustments for quality and consistency.
  • Work closely with Cut & Sew and Weaving teams to align fabric, trim, and color
    standards.

Team Capacity Building

  • Train internal staff on apparel design workflow, pattern drafting, and spec
    documentation.
  • Introduce modern systems for fit sampling, grading, and size-set approval.
  • Support development of digital or physical libraries for fabric and trim standards.

Collaboration & Quality Alignment

  • Partner with the Creative Lead, Production Director, and Silk Farm Director to ensure design feasibility and quality.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Retail teams for product storytelling and packaging integration.

Main Requirements:

  • 5+ years of apparel design or technical design experience, ideally in luxury or ethical fashion.
  • Proven ability to train or mentor design and technical teams.
  • Experience managing sample rooms or prototype development.
  • Commitment to craftsmanship, quality, and knowledge sharing.
  • Success Indicators (First 90 Days)
  • Apparel design workflow and documentation templates established.
  • Team trained on core pattern and spec development standards.
  • First round of silk apparel prototypes reviewed and approved for refinement.
