Summary:
The Transport Operations Manager oversees budgets, transport operations, deliveries, and compliance while managing resources, logistics, and vendor coordination. Requires a degree/diploma, 2-3 years of experience, and basic freight and logistics knowledge.
Main responsibilities:
- Budget & Resource Management: Oversee departmental budgets and allocate resources efficiently.
- Transport Strategy & Optimization: Develop and implement transport strategies to ensure timely, cost-effective deliveries while maximizing truck capacity (time, space, weight).
- Network & Scheduling: Plan and optimize routes, modes, and schedules for daily, on-time deliveries.
- Manpower & Fleet Allocation: Manage truck and driver assignments based on business needs.
- Communication & Reporting: Handle transport-related complaints across FMCG sales channels and provide daily delivery reports.
- Operational Oversight: Manage daily delivery planning, loading, and service levels, ensuring SOP compliance and fraud prevention.
- Cash & Goods Control: Oversee COD collection, goods returns, and pending inventory.
- Third-Party Logistics (3PL) Management: Oversee transportation vendors and ensure efficient use of 3PL trucks.
- Performance & Compliance: Monitor GPS tracking, enforce health & safety policies, and track KPIs.
- Collaboration & Team Management: Work with warehousing teams and guide team members for operational excellence.
Main requirement:
- Bachelor degree and/or diploma/certificate in supply chain, logistics management, business administration and/or any related field
- Minimum experience two to three years in similar role
- Demonstrate basic knowledge in warehousing, distribution and transport and supply chain processes
- Demonstrate in-depth understanding of day-to-day running of a Freight and Transport operation
- Demonstrate fluency in local language and fairly good in English, both written and spoken
