Job Summary
Our client is a leading Commercial Bank seeking a highly experienced and strategic professional to lead its Transaction Banking business. The role will focus on strengthening the Bank's CASA franchise, enhancing payment and cash management capabilities, expanding trade finance penetration, and increasing fee-based income across Corporate, Commercial, and SME Banking segments.
The Head of Transaction Banking will lead and institutionalize the Bank's integrated transaction banking platform covering Cash Management, Payments, Collections, Trade Finance, Supply Chain Finance, and Digital Transaction Solutions.
This role carries responsibility for driving liquidity stability, client stickiness, and transaction-led revenue growth while supporting the Bank's broader Business Banking strategy through close collaboration with Corporate & Commercial Banking and SME Banking teams.
Main Responsibilities:
CASA & Liability Franchise
- Drive growth in:
- Current Accounts
- Operating Balances
- Relationship-based Deposits
- Strengthen stable CASA acquisition and retention strategies.
- Improve funding stability through deeper client engagement.
Payments & Cash Management
- Build and scale:
- Cash Management Solutions
- Payments & Collections Infrastructure
- Integrate transaction services with domestic payment rails such as Bakong.
- Develop client connectivity and API-based integration capabilities.
- Improve transaction volumes and operational efficiency.
Trade & Supply Chain Finance
- Expand:
- Trade Finance penetration
- Supply Chain Finance ecosystem
- Work closely with Corporate & SME Banking teams to drive cross-sell opportunities.
- Enhance end-to-end transaction banking solutions for business clients.
Fee Income & Transaction Revenue Growth
- Drive non-interest income through:
- Payments
- Trade Services
- FX Transaction Flows
- Reduce reliance on spread-based income.
- Improve transaction banking profitability and commercial performance.
Digital Banking & Platform Integration
- Collaborate with Technology teams to:
- Enable API banking capabilities
- Develop embedded banking solutions
- Improve digital transaction banking services
- Align transaction banking strategy with the Bank's Digital Banking roadmap.
Client & Ecosystem Management
- Strengthen client stickiness through integrated transaction solutions.
- Build long-term ecosystem partnerships across Corporate and SME clients.
- Improve overall customer experience and service delivery.
Main Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Banking, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or related field.
- Minimum 15–20 years of experience in Transaction Banking.
- Strong expertise in:
- Cash Management
- Payments
- Trade Finance
- CASA & Liability Management
- Proven experience building and scaling transaction banking businesses.
- Strong understanding of:
- Payment ecosystems
- Trade services
- Digital and platform banking models
- Experience integrating transaction banking with Corporate & SME Banking businesses.
- Strong commercial mindset with client relationship management capabilities.
- Proven leadership and stakeholder management experience.
- Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and execution capabilities.
- Experience in the Cambodian banking market is highly preferred.
Preferred Profile
- Senior Transaction Banking leader from a leading commercial bank or regional financial institution.
- Strong exposure to CASA growth, payments ecosystem management, and trade finance.
- Proven ability to drive fee income and liquidity stability.
- Experience working closely with Corporate Banking and SME Banking franchises.
- Strong understanding of digital transaction banking and embedded finance capabilities.
- Commercially driven leader with integrated business banking experience.
First 90 Days Priorities
- Assess CASA base and deposit concentration.
- Review transaction banking products, pricing, and competitiveness.
- Identify quick wins in payments and trade finance flows.
- Align closely with Corporate & SME Banking teams on integrated client opportunities.
- Evaluate transaction banking digital capabilities and API integration opportunities.
- Develop roadmap for CASA growth and fee income expansion.
