Federal Financial Management - Senior Accountant

Location: Remote; Limited visits to HQ in Springfield, VA

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Provide Federal accounting technical support to TSA
  • Review, research and reconcile obligation, de-obligation, and refund transactions associated with expired and unexpired appropriations for potential PYA recognition
  • Review and reconcile IPAC payable transactions daily
  • Monitor, analyze and reconcile Statement of Custodial Activity relevant General Fund Receipt (GFR) account activity, as well as advance and prepayment transactions
  • Prepare monthly accounts receivable accrual and reconciliation for security fees, and semi-annually review the methodology
  • Monitor and prepare reports on TSA prompt payment activity
  • Prepare periodic analysis and reconciliation of FBWT, GL balances, obligations and appropriations
  • Support agency compliance with DATA Act reporting requirements
  • Prepare journal entries and TIER adjustments for posting
  • Provide recommendations for improvement to accounting processes in compliance with Federal Accounting guidance 
  • Support internal and external audits by providing assistance with preparing responses to audit request

Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree Accounting
  • 5+ years Federal Financial Accounting experience
  • Public Trust Clearance
  • Must be familiar with FASAB, GAAP, and USSGL
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must have experience with transactional accounting, journal entries or journal vouchers, account research and reconciliation, FASAB, GAAP, USSGL, Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Strong analytical capabilities and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to interface professionally with the client and provide expertise as needed.
  • Ability to effectively work as part of a remote team.
  • Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail.
  • Active Public Trust or a US citizen with the ability to obtain a government security clearance.
