Job Description:

We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Speech Pathologist to join our pool of healthcare team. In this role, you will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders in patients of all ages. Your expertise will play a crucial role in improving the quality of life for individuals by enhancing their communication abilities and overall functionality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessment and Diagnosis: Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients speech, language, communication, and swallowing abilities to diagnose disorders and determine appropriate interventions.
  • Treatment Planning: Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings, patient goals, and evidence-based practices.
  • Therapeutic Interventions: Provide direct therapy and intervention to address speech and language disorders, including articulation, fluency, voice disorders, and swallowing difficulties.
  • Patient Education: Educate patients and their families on speech and language disorders, treatment strategies, and exercises to support progress and management of conditions.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including assessment results, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
  • Collaborate with Healthcare Teams: Work closely with other healthcare professionals, including doctors, occupational therapists, and psychologists, to ensure comprehensive and coordinated patient care.
  • Adhere to Protocols: Follow organisational policies, procedures, and safety guidelines to ensure quality of care and patient safety.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelors or Masters degree in Speech Pathology or a related field.
  • Licensure: Current registration with Speech Pathology Australia (SPA).
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Speech Pathologist in a clinical or healthcare setting.
  • Vaccinations: Up-to-date with annual flu and COVID-19 vaccinations.
  • Work Rights: Must have full work rights in Australia.

  • Clinical Expertise: Proficiency in assessing and treating a wide range of speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders.

  • Cultural Sensitivity: Experience working in a diverse environment and understanding of cultural considerations in patient care.
