Job Description (JD): Construction Manager – GMP Facility Set-Up (Life Sciences / Pharma)

Role Summary

We are seeking a hands-on Construction Manager with hard-core, onsite experience delivering GMP greenfield/brownfield facility set-ups, including construction, fit-out, and readiness for regulated manufacturing environments. The role requires strong coordination across contractors, engineering, CQV, EHS, and Quality to drive execution through mechanical completion and support commissioning & qualification toward GMP operation.

Key Responsibilities

1) Construction Delivery (GMP Projects)

  • Lead site construction execution for GMP manufacturing / DS/DP facilities including fit-out, cleanroom build, and controlled area readiness. 
  • Manage daily construction activities ensuring scope, schedule, and cost targets are met. Oversee construction progress through mechanical completion and readiness milestones. 
  • Coordinate with multiple contractors and subcontractors for civil, structural, architectural, MEP, clean utilities, and process support works.

2) Contractor & Stakeholder Management

  • Perform daily coordination with contractors, resolve site issues, and drive corrective actions to maintain momentum. 
  • Partner closely with Engineering, Automation, CQV, and operations teams to ensure construction aligns to commissioning sequence and GMP start-up needs. 
  • Maintain strong interfaces with Quality Assurance for GMP alignment, inspections, audit readiness, and compliance expectations.

3) Project Management & Controls

  • Support/lead preparation of key project documentation such as:
    • Project/Business Requirements, WBS, CBS, Scope Statements, execution plans. 
    • Track progress, manage changes, coordinate punch list closure, and ensure structured handover to CQV/Operations.
  • Monitor contractor productivity, review schedules, align look-ahead plans, and report weekly status to leadership.

4) Safety, Quality & Compliance (EHS/GMP)

  • Enforce site safety standards, permit-to-work systems, and contractor EHS compliance.
  • Ensure construction documentation (drawings, redlines, turnover packs, IQ support documents, vendor dossiers) is complete and compliant for GMP handover.
  • Ensure construction works meet GMP expectations for finishes, material flow, contamination control, and segregation principles.

5) Commissioning, Qualification & Handover Support

  • Work collaboratively with CQV teams to support construction completion, system boundaries, turnover, and readiness for commissioning activities.
