Role Overview
The Group Chief Information Officer (CIO) will lead the digital transformation strategy across 24 independent entities, each with its own in-house technology team. Instead of a top-down directive, this transformation will be a collaborative approach, ensuring alignment while respecting the autonomy of each entity. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with strong financial stewardship, stakeholder management, and execution capabilities to drive group-wide innovation and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
1. Group-Level Digital Leadership
- Develop and execute a holistic digital strategy across 24 entities, ensuring alignment while accommodating each entitys unique needs.
- Bridge the gap between group-level vision and entity-level execution, ensuring digital transformation delivers measurable business impact.
- Establish group-wide technology standards, governance frameworks, and best practices, fostering innovation without stifling agility.
2. Financial Stewardship & Budget Management
- Oversee and optimize the IT budget at the group level, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and cost-effective technology investments.
- Implement cost-sharing models where relevant, ensuring fair and strategic allocation of IT expenses across entities.
- Continuously monitor and evaluate ROI on IT investments, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
3. Hands-On Leadership in a Complex IT Landscape
- Work collaboratively with entity-level IT teams, guiding them through digital transformation rather than imposing a top-down mandate.
- Be deeply involved in execution, understanding the realities on the ground and ensuring practical, scalable solutions.
- Identify and bridge talent gaps, fostering cross-entity knowledge sharing and building a high-performing IT leadership network.
4. Stakeholder Management & Collaboration
- Engage with C-suite executives, entity leaders, IT teams, and business technology stakeholders to drive alignment on digital transformation initiatives.
- Work closely with vendors, partners, and external consultants to leverage best-in-class technologies and practices.
- Facilitate a culture of collaboration and shared innovation, ensuring that best practices are effectively communicated across entities.
5. Strategic Vision & Execution
- Define a clear, long-term IT roadmap that aligns with business growth and operational efficiency goals.
- Lead large-scale IT initiatives, including cloud adoption, data strategy, AI integration, cybersecurity frameworks, and business process automation.
- Ensure seamless technology integration across multiple systems, balancing innovation with operational stability.
Key Requirements
Experience & Leadership
- 15+ years of experience in IT leadership roles, with at least 5 years at the group or enterprise level.
- Proven track record in leading digital transformation across multi-entity organizations.
- Strong background in IT governance, infrastructure, enterprise architecture, and emerging technologies.
Financial & Budget Expertise
- Demonstrated experience in managing large IT budgets, optimizing IT spend, and ensuring financial accountability.
- Ability to balance cost efficiency with innovation and business impact.
Stakeholder & Change Management
- Exceptional ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments across diverse business units.
- Strong influence and relationship-building skills, fostering collaboration between group leadership and entity IT teams.
- Experience in managing vendor partnerships and large-scale IT procurement.
Execution & Problem-Solving
- Hands-on approach, able to deep dive into IT operations while maintaining a strategic view.
- Strong project execution capabilities, ensuring timely and successful implementation of IT initiatives.
- Analytical mindset, able to make data-driven decisions to optimize IT performance and business outcomes.
