About the job Server Administrator
The Server Administrator is responsible for installing, configuring, maintaining, and securing servers and related infrastructure to ensure reliable system performance and availability. This role supports on-premises, cloud-based, and hybrid environments while ensuring optimal uptime, data security, and compliance with organizational standards. The Server Administrator works collaboratively with IT teams and operates in a fully remote environment.
This position is strictly limited to candidates who currently reside in the United States and are legally authorized to work in the U.S. Applications from individuals residing outside the United States will be rejected.
Key Responsibilities
Install, configure, and maintain physical and virtual servers
Monitor server performance, availability, and system health
Manage user access, permissions, and authentication systems
Implement and maintain security protocols and system updates
Perform regular backups and disaster recovery procedures
Troubleshoot server issues and resolve technical incidents
Manage cloud infrastructure environments (if applicable)
Maintain system documentation and configuration records
Collaborate with cybersecurity and network teams to ensure system integrity
Support system upgrades, migrations, and infrastructure improvements
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
3–6 years of experience in server administration or systems engineering
Experience with Windows Server and/or Linux environments
Knowledge of virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, or similar)
Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)
Understanding of networking fundamentals and security best practices
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
Ability to work independently in a remote environment
Preferred Qualifications
Industry certifications such as CompTIA Server+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, or similar
Experience with automation tools (PowerShell, Bash, or similar scripting)
Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery solutions
Experience managing hybrid infrastructure environments
Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools
Compensation
Annual Salary Range: $85,000 – $115,000 USD, based on experience, certifications, and infrastructure scope
