About the job CDL-A Dry Van Driver - Entry Level - Mentor Led Training
We're hiring entry-level CDL-A drivers in McComb, Magnolia and Pike County for an OTR dry van seat. You earn $650 a week in mentor training, then $1,200 to $1,800 a week solo, and you're home every two weeks.
Here is how it goes for a new driver from Pike County.
You apply on a Monday. A recruiter calls, goes over your license and record, and tells you straight where you stand.
A few days later you're at orientation. It takes two days at most. The hotel is paid for. The bus ticket that got you there is paid back. Once you're hired, those two days are worth $300.
Then you meet your mentor. For the next 3 to 5 weeks, about 200 to 250 hours, you drive with them in the next seat. You back into tight docks until it stops scaring you. You learn to plan a trip, keep your logs and fuel right. Every week, $650 hits your account.
Then the keys are yours. The truck is assigned to you and about 1.5 years old on average, automatic or 10-speed. For your first three months solo, your check never comes in under $1,000.
After that you settle in. You run 1,800 to 2,900 miles a week of dry van freight east of Denver, never the Northeast. Some loads are drop and hook, some preloaded, some live. Extra stops pay $15. Short hauls pay $75 plus miles. A performance bonus comes monthly. You average $1,200 to $1,800 a week, and every two weeks you're back home.
At 30 days your benefits start: medical, dental, vision, prescriptions, 401(k), stock purchase, employee assistance, and a free online degree for you and a family member. A rider can come along, and so can a dog under 40 lbs once you're through training.
