About the job CDL-A Driver - Home Weekly - Paid Training for New CDL
We are hiring Class A drivers in Kankakee County for a regional dry van fleet that keeps you in Illinois, Iowa and Ohio and brings you home every week. Most trailers are preloaded and most deliveries are drop and hook, so your day is spent driving, not waiting on a dock. The average driver here makes about $1,400 a week. New CDL holders train on this same fleet. Drivers with 6 months or more of recent experience go straight to their own truck.

Your week
You run dry van freight on a regional fleet. Nine out of ten loads stay between Illinois, Iowa and Ohio, so the roads get familiar fast. Now and then a load runs down to Georgia and back. Most trailers are preloaded, and most deliveries are drop and hook. Some are live loads and live unloads. Dispatch runs day and night, and weekends are worked. You take your 34-hour restart at home, every week.
Winter is part of the job up here. You will drive in snow and cold, and you will be ready for it before you ever go solo.
New to driving?
A recruiter calls you and goes over your license and record. Orientation is in Columbus, Ohio, two days at most, with your hotel covered and your bus ticket paid back. It pays $300 once you are hired. Then you train with a mentor on this same fleet for 3 to 5 weeks, about 200 to 250 hours, at $685 a week. When you finish, you run solo on the same lanes.
Already driving?
If you have 6 months of OTR experience in the last 12 months, you skip mentor training. After orientation you get your own assigned truck and start on full mileage pay.
Benefits after 30 days
