You will be matched with a certified instructor for a duration of 4 to 6 weeks. This process involves pulling live loads on public roads—not sitting in front of a computer screen or a blackboard. As soon as your instructor approves your performance, you take the keys to your own rig.
Your paid coaching focuses on:
- Accident-free maneuvering of commercial tractor-trailers
- Mastering electronic logging devices and legal driving limits
- Executing rigorous walk-around checks before and after trips
- Coordinating effectively with operational personnel
Routine Tasks
- Transporting freight in dry vans, predominantly across sectors east of I-35
- Returning home bi-weekly for scheduled rest
- Adhering strictly to federal transport safety mandates
- Submitting precise electronic logs and equipment condition forms
- Verifying vehicle roadworthiness at the start and conclusion of each shift
- Interacting professionally with the fleet coordinators
Hiring Criteria
- Active and valid Class A commercial license
- Age 21 or older
- Documentation showing 120+ hours from a certified tractor-trailer academy
- Unblemished motor vehicle report
- Successful completion of a mandatory DOT medical screening and urinalysis
