Job Description Tailor/Linenkeeper

Purpose of Position:

  • Repairs crew uniforms, guest clothing, and hotel department linen.
  • Ensures proper handling of linen and uniform distribution, contributing to guest satisfaction and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Repair torn or damaged hotel linens, including curtains and drapes.
  • Make alterations and repairs to guest clothing and crew uniforms as needed.
  • Maintain inventory of sewing materials (threads, buttons, needles, etc.) and order supplies as required.
  • Repurpose soiled or damaged items into cleaning rags and reusable materials.
  • Repair soft furnishings to extend their lifespan.
  • Assist in linen inventory management and distribution of steward supplies.
  • Work with the Hotel Storekeeper to manage and distribute crew uniforms and handle uniform requisitions.
  • Ensure the uniform storeroom is well-maintained and stocked, considering upcoming crew changes.
  • Assist the Inventory Manager and Store Team with loading operations as required.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, following Public Health and Safety policies.
  • Participate in The Daily Reunion meetings to align with operational needs and Vikings STAR Service Standards.
  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and use proper lifting techniques to prevent injuries.
  • Maintain professional grooming standards per Vikings Image and Uniform Policies.
  • Secure company property, particularly during rough weather conditions, to prevent loss or damage.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability, maintaining a positive attitude under pressure.
  • Follow safety and security procedures, participating in fire prevention and evacuation drills.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.

Qualification (Your Profile)

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Tailor or similar role.
  • Excellent tailoring skills and understanding of hotel and linen operations.
  • Shipboard experience is an advantage.
  • Basic knowledge of storeroom operations and storage procedures.
  • Fluent in English excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to speak additional languages is an advantage.
  • Flexible, stress-resistant, and detail-oriented team player, with an exceptional work ethic.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently.
  • Guest-focused, service-oriented, with a professional appearance and impeccable hygiene standards.
  • Strong knowledge of Public Health Policies and sanitary regulations.
