Job Description Provision Master
Purpose of Position:
- Ensures all Hotel Store areas are clean and well-maintained.
- Responsible for ordering, inspecting, and quality control of all Food & Beverage (F&B) supplies during loading operations.
- Creates a guest-oriented service culture, enhancing guest satisfaction and repeat business, contributing to increased revenue and profitability.
Responsibilities:
- Control and verify all incoming merchandise, ensuring compliance with Standard Item Lists, invoices, and delivery documents.
- Maintain clean and hygienic F&B storage areas, ensuring adherence to Public Health Policies.
- Work with the Inventory Manager to establish internal requisition schedules, ensuring timely and accurate distribution of items.
- Coordinate with the Executive Chef to monitor stock levels and perform extensive physical inventories.
- Investigate and recommend corrective actions for unusual shortages in bar and/or food operations.
- Establish cost-control standards for F&B onboard, analyzing cost and consumption reports.
- Monitor F&B consumption on a per-cruise basis, minimizing waste and ensuring compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Ensure proper Stock Rotation Procedures (FIFO) and maintain organized storerooms.
- Implement slow-moving item procedures, ensuring discontinued F&B items are utilized appropriately.
- Maintain working hour records, ensuring compliance with Maritime Labor Convention (MLC) and payroll procedures.
- Lead and support a multi-cultural team, fostering crew satisfaction, productivity, and retention.
- Conduct daily team meetings ("The Daily Reunion") to provide updates and ensure adherence to Vikings STAR Service Standards.
- Provide leadership in crew performance reviews, training, succession planning, and compliance with MLC regulations.
- Ensure correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety protocols.
- Maintain professional grooming standards per Vikings Image and Uniform Policies.
- Secure company property, particularly during rough weather conditions.
- Ensure knowledge of itinerary ports, shore excursions, and onboard activities.
- Support achieving Inventory Department KPIs (quality and financial targets).
- Follow safety and security procedures, participating in fire prevention and evacuation drills.
- Perform a Full Inventory Cycle Check of assigned stores twice a month, before full loading.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
Qualification (Your Profile)
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Provision Master or similar role.
- Extensive knowledge of F&B products, storeroom operations, and storage procedures.
- Previous shipboard experience in the position is required.
- Fluent in English strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to speak additional languages is an advantage.
- Strong leadership and multi-cultural team management skills.
- Proficient in inventory management systems (MXP preferred).
- Advanced administrative skills, including proficiency in PC-based databases, spreadsheets, and word processing.
- Thorough understanding of ship-catering operations.
- Professional appearance, impeccable hygiene standards, and motivational skills.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Public Health Policies.
