Job Description Assistant Waiter
Purpose of Position:
- Supports the Waiter, Head Waiter, and Maitre D in delivering exceptional dining service.
- Ensures the highest level of guest satisfaction, providing a seamless dining experience across multiple venues, including the Main Dining Room, Windjammer, and Specialty Restaurants.
Responsibilities:
- Rotates between casual and formal dining service venues.
- Assists assigned Waiters in delivering meals efficiently.
- Learns and uses correct food and wine terminology & pronunciation to enhance the guest experience.
- Becomes familiar with menu descriptions and wine lists, ensuring accurate communication with guests.
- Prepares tables by obtaining linen, silverware, glassware, and china and arranging them per standards.
- Greets and escorts guests to their assigned seats.
- Presents food and beverage menus, suggests dinner courses & wine pairings, and answers guest inquiries.
- Accurately enters food and beverage orders into the Point-of-Sale system.
- Maintains assigned stations, table settings, and service stands, ensuring cleanliness.
- Observes guests to anticipate their needs, providing additional assistance when required.
- Participates in dining room entertainment, including theme nights and parades.
- Attends meetings, training sessions, and work-related activities as required.
- Follows ServSafe responsible alcohol service standards.
Qualification (Your Profile)
Hiring Requirements:
- 2-3 years of previous waiter experience, preferably in a 4-star or 5-star restaurant.
- Strong customer service skills aligned with Royal Caribbeans The Royal Way.
- Ability to perform basic math functions for meal count procedures.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to speak additional languages (Spanish, French, German, Italian, or Portuguese) is preferred.
- Successful completion of ServSafe training within the first 30 days of contract.
Language Requirements:
- Fluent in English ability to speak, read, and write clearly.
- Must be able to understand and follow written procedures and communicate effectively with guests and co-workers.
- Speaking additional languages is an advantage.
Physical Requirements:
- Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, reach, talk, hear, and taste/smell.
- Specific vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
- Must be physically capable of participating in emergency procedures and drills.
- Full range of motion in arms and legs for emergency response tasks.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
