Job Overview:
We are seeking a qualified Oiler to join a container vessel. The Oiler will be responsible for assisting the engine crew in maintaining and operating the ships machinery and mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with international maritime regulations and company policies.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the Engineers in maintaining and operating the main engine, auxiliary engines, boilers, pumps, and other mechanical systems.
Perform routine lubrication of machinery and ensure all moving parts are properly oiled.
Monitor engine performance, fuel and oil levels, and report any abnormalities.
Conduct inspections, cleaning, and preventive maintenance on engine components.
Assist in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical faults under the supervision of senior engineers.
Ensure compliance with SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM Code, STCW, and company safety regulations.
Keep the engine room clean, organized, and free of hazards.
Maintain log entries and records of engine room activities.
Participate in safety drills, emergency response training, and pollution control measures.
Follow orders from the Chief Engineer, First Engineer, and other senior engineering officers.
Requirements:
Valid STCW certification and relevant maritime training.
Minimum 2 years of experience as an Oiler on container vessels.
Knowledge of marine propulsion systems, lubrication techniques, and engine maintenance.
Familiarity with SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM Code, and other maritime regulations.
Good physical fitness and ability to work in confined spaces and hot environments.
Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Fluent in English (basic proficiency for maritime communication).
Physically fit and able to meet maritime medical fitness standards.
