Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Fitter to join a container vessel. The Fitter will be responsible for welding, fabrication, and repair of shipboard machinery and structures, ensuring the vessels safe and efficient operation while complying with international maritime regulations and company policies.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform fabrication, welding, and machining work on ship structures and machinery.

Assist the Engineers in the maintenance and repair of main engine, auxiliary engines, and other mechanical components.

Conduct routine inspection and maintenance of pipelines, valves, and metal structures.

Operate and maintain lathe machines, grinders, and welding equipment.

Support engine crew in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical failures.

Ensure compliance with SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM Code, STCW, and company policies.

Participate in safety drills, emergency repairs, and firefighting training.

Keep records of work completed and maintain an inventory of spare parts and tools.

Assist in dry-docking and major overhauls as required.

Follow safety regulations and proper procedures when working with heavy machinery.

Requirements:

Valid STCW certification and relevant maritime training.

Minimum 3 years of experience as a Fitter on container vessels or in a shipyard.

Skilled in welding, cutting, grinding, and machining.

Strong knowledge of ship repair techniques, structural fabrication, and mechanical systems.

Familiarity with SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM Code, and other maritime regulations.

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.

Good communication and teamwork abilities.

Fluent in English (basic proficiency for maritime communication).

Physically fit and able to meet maritime medical fitness standards.
