Job Description

  • Overall control and management of buying department
  • Improve and develop the buying department strategy, processes and protocols.
  • Develop, maintain and improve relationships with key suppliers.
  • Create relationships with new suppliers.
  • Champion use Local strategy, working with the ESG manager to explore sustainable solutions for material supply and waste / unused material disposal and local social value opportunities.
  • Explore general sustainable alternatives to materials, fuel and equipment
  • Manage disputes over damage / losses, and critique material supply invoices against standard of service (standing time vs supplier delays)
  • Day to day buying function includes live jobs & tenders supporting the buyer as and when required.
  • Monitor and feedback supplier performance: input into NCR CARs.
  • Report back to estimators regional cost fluctuations, supplier specific cost increases, and regional blockers (other large projects in the area which could impact on supply and costs to our project).
  • Working with site teams over real-time challenges (supplier/supply issues) & opportunities (new suppliers in the area, innovative solutions).
  • Assist estimators with regional lodging costs.
  • Manage supplier approvals and approved supplier database
  • Establish, maintain and review framework agreements including rebate agreements

  • Standard working hours are 8:45 to 5:15 with 1 hour lunch. However, flexibility for earlier start/finish early as long as it is agreed upfront.
