Job Summary

The Brand Protection Specialist safeguards the firms digital presence and reputation by identifying, investigating, and mitigating online threats such as impersonation, fraud, and misuse of the firms name or likeness. This position focuses on proactive WhiteHat takedowns, social media fraud prevention, and website removal coordination to ensure that the firms brand remains trusted, compliant, and secure across all online platforms.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

Monitoring & Detection:

  • Continuously monitor social media platforms, websites, and online directories for potential impersonation, fraudulent activity, or brand misuse.
  • Use specialized tools and manual techniques to identify unauthorized content or fraudulent profiles.

Investigation & Evidence Gathering:

  • Conduct detailed research and analysis of suspicious online accounts or websites.
  • Document evidence of brand misuse or impersonation for internal reporting and external takedown requests.
  • WhiteHat Takedowns:
  • Coordinate and execute takedown requests on social media platforms, hosting providers, and domain registrars under applicable laws and platform policies.
  • Liaise with service providers, social media trust and safety teams, and cybersecurity vendors to expedite removals.

Fraud Prevention & Response:

  • Develop and apply strategies to prevent phishing, spoofing, and fraudulent client contact.
  • Assist internal teams in recognizing and reporting suspicious activity that could affect clients or firm operations.

Reporting & Documentation:

  • Maintain logs of identified incidents, takedowns, and resolutions.
  • Prepare regular reports summarizing threat trends, resolutions, and recommendations for enhanced protection.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with the firms IT, Marketing, and Compliance teams to ensure unified brand protection strategies.
  • Support training initiatives to educate staff on digital safety and brand protection protocols.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Cybersecurity, Digital Forensics, Communications, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in online brand protection, trust & safety, fraud prevention, or digital investigations.
  • Demonstrated experience with social media and website takedowns, DMCA processes, and WhiteHat practices.
  • Strong analytical and online research skills with a detail-oriented and investigative mindset.
  • Excellent written communication skills for drafting takedown requests and documenting investigations.
  • Familiarity with social media reporting systems (Meta, LinkedIn, X, TikTok, YouTube, etc.) and domain registrar policies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working within or with law firms, especially in the immigration sector.
  • Knowledge of U.S. privacy, intellectual property, and cybersecurity regulations.
  • Certifications such as Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), GIAC Cyber Threat Intelligence (GCTI), or equivalent.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) proficiency preferred.

Key Performance Indicators

  • Number and success rate of completed takedowns (social media and website).
  • Average response and resolution time for detected threats.
  • Reduction in repeat or recurring impersonation incidents.
  • Accuracy and completeness of investigation documentation.
  • Proactive threat identification and reporting consistency.
  • Collaboration and responsiveness with internal departments and external partners.

Work Environment

  • Hybrid Role based in San Antonio, TX.
  • Combination of in-person meetings and remote work. Occasional travel is required for stakeholder engagement, community events, and conferences.
