The Stateside Paralegal will provide comprehensive legal and administrative support to attorneys in an immigration law practice, with a focus on U.S.-based immigration matters. This role is responsible for assisting in case preparation, drafting legal documents, conducting legal research, client communication, and ensuring compliance with deadlines and immigration regulations. The paralegal plays a key role in facilitating smooth case management and delivering exceptional client service.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

  • Draft, review, and prepare petitions, applications, motions, and supporting evidence for immigration cases (family-based, employment-based, humanitarian, and naturalization).
  • Conduct legal research on immigration policies, regulations, and case precedents.
  • Manage and organize client files, ensuring accuracy and compliance with firm standards and federal requirements.
  • Communicate with clients to gather information, provide case updates, and answer routine questions under attorney supervision.
  • Coordinate with attorneys to prepare for client interviews, hearings, and filings.
  • Maintain case calendars, track deadlines, and monitor case progress.
  • Liaise with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), Department of State (DOS), and other government agencies as needed.
  • Assist in the preparation of affidavits, declarations, and evidence packets.
  • Support attorneys with trial preparation and court filings when applicable.
  • Perform administrative tasks including document management, scheduling, and correspondence.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Legal Studies, Political Science, or a related field, or Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved program.
  • 2+ years of experience as a paralegal, preferably in immigration law.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. immigration processes, forms, and procedures.
  • Excellent legal writing, proofreading, and research skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, immigration case management software (e.g., LawLogix, INSZoom, Docketwise, or similar).
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and integrity.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) highly preferred.



Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a law firm environment with high-volume immigration caseloads.
  • Familiarity with family-based, employment-based, and humanitarian relief immigration cases.
  • Certifications such as NALA (Certified Paralegal) or AACP (Advanced Certified Paralegal).
