Welder (Steel Fabrication Shop)

Position Overview

We are seeking a Certified Welder to perform welding and related fabrication activities in a steel manufacturing environment. This role requires hands‑on work with various tools and equipment, along with strict adherence to safety and quality standards.

Schedule & Pay

  • Hours: Monday–Friday, 10‑hour shifts
  • Shift: 5:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
  • Overtime: Based on production needs; Saturdays scheduled in advance
  • Pay Rate: $25.00/hr

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform welding and associated tasks, including grinding, painting, cutting, and other fabrication activities.
  • Conduct visual quality checks as trained to ensure all work meets required specifications.
  • Follow all environmental, health, and safety procedures.
  • Safely operate shop equipment such as grinders, shears, cranes, and other tools.
  • Complete weld tests as required, including vertical‑up welding on test coupons for certification review.
  • Assist with general shop tasks to support production.

Requirements

  • Must be a certified welder; AWS D1.1 qualification required.
  • Experience with vertical welding is a plus.
  • Must pass a hands‑on welding test during the interview.
  • Ability to lift to 60 lbs alone and up to 100 lbs with a partner.
  • Comfortable working in a non‑climate‑controlled environment.
  • Ability to work in various welding positions: flat, vertical, overhead, and postures requiring bending, reaching, and twisting.
  • Must be able to wear a respirator when required.
  • Must speak and understand English.
  • Strong work ethic and reliability required.
  • Must have a clean background for the past 5 years.
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
  • Stable work history preferred (e.g., at least one job held for 3 years).
