Position Title: MPI Operator / Mechanical Maintenance Technician Location: Baytown, Texas Schedule: 12-hour rotating shifts (6:00 AM – 6:00 PM / 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM) Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

The Mechanical Maintenance Technician is a critical role in manufacturing facilities, responsible for routine maintenance procedures and troubleshooting complex issues with production equipment. This position ensures equipment reliability and minimal downtime by diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining mechanical and electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct repairs and preventive maintenance to minimize downtime of manufacturing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical equipment, electrical instruments, control systems, power systems, and piping systems.
  • Document all maintenance activities, resources used, and closing codes.
  • Requisition repair parts under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Perform maintenance in compliance with OSHA rules, PSM guidelines, and environmental regulations.
  • Monitor and adhere to maintenance KPIs.
  • Apply mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting skills to repair production machines.
  • Support continuous improvement by actively developing technical skills.
  • Maintain clean and orderly work areas while complying with safety regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 1–2 years of maintenance manufacturing experience.
  • Knowledge of NEC (National Electrical Code) and NFPA 70E standards.
  • Ability to install new equipment or modify existing installations.
  • Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC) tools such as control charts, standard deviation, and Cpk.
  • Mechanical skills: pneumatic schematics, troubleshooting, V-belt tensioning, valves, motors, drive systems, relays, switches, transformers, and electrical enclosures.
  • Electrical skills: interpreting circuitry schematics, PLC schematics, troubleshooting, and safety precautions.
  • Working knowledge of PLC hardware and Ladder Logic programming.
  • Proficient with computers and strong oral/written communication skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 55 lbs. independently and up to 100 lbs. with assistance.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods.
  • Availability for overtime and rotating shifts.
