Job Summary:

As a Grinder, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining grinding machines to shape and finish metal or other materials according to specifications. You will work with a variety of tools and equipment to grind, sand, and polish materials to ensure they meet quality standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail and be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

- Set up and operate grinding machines to grind, sand, and polish metal or other materials

- Read and interpret blueprints or job orders to determine grinding specifications

- Select and mount grinding wheels on machines according to specifications

- Inspect materials for defects and measure dimensions to ensure they meet specifications

- Adjust machine controls to regulate speed, pressure, and feed rate

- Monitor machine operations and make adjustments as needed to maintain quality and production standards

- Use precision measuring instruments to ensure accuracy of finished products

- Clean and maintain machines and work area to ensure a safe and organized work environment

- Follow all safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)

- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to supervisor

- Assist with other tasks and duties as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent

- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience operating grinding machines

- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to read blueprints

- Knowledge of different types of grinding tools and techniques

- Ability to use precision measuring instruments

- Basic math skills and ability to interpret measurements

- Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail

- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time

- Willingness to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

- Strong work ethic and reliability

- Ability to follow safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE
